Public activists in Kyiv created a network to solve common problems

On September 26th ‘Anti-corruption initiative of Kyiv’, ‘No bribery!’ movement and the Open Society Foundation organized a conference titled "Kyiv Anti-Corruption Network ".
On September 26th ‘Anti-corruption initiative of Kyiv’, ‘No bribery!’ movement and the Open Society Foundation organized a conference titled "Kyiv Anti-Corruption Network ". The event was supported by UNDP, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark and CF ‘TSHI’.
Ivan Sikora, OSF director, opened the event with the key-note speech on prospects of fighting corruption in Kyiv in land relations and municipal property management in the public sector. He analyzed corruption risks in municipal land and property sectors, abuses related to the payment of personal income tax on corporate income tax by municipally owned enterprises, shares of developers and entrepreneurs for using small architectural forms and other problems. Apart from the achievements of Mayor Klitschko’s team, much remained undone after more than one year in the office. Ivan drew attention to the corruption risks associated with attempts to adopt Kyiv General Plan 2025 and legalize land mass manipulations through systematic violation of the General Plan 2020, and introduced anew provision on investment tenders and continued dangerous practices of monopolization of investment initiatives selection through Kyiv Investment Agency.
Representative of Kyiv Anti-Corruption Council Volodymyr Hoy, well-known public activist and journalist Oleksii Podolskyy, city council member Oleg Petrovets, an expert in the field of architecture Anatoliy Frolov, representatives of initiative groups on ​​housing and illegal construction have also attended the conference. Participants agreed to unite the efforts of various Kyiv initiative groups to address the problems associated with corruption.
