Why local corruption matters: understanding causes, evaluating its cost, effects and how to address them in the most effective manner?

Best anti-corruption tools for local activists and experts, members of local councils and journalists of South Ukraine (Mykolaiv and oblast, Kherson and Odessa) will be presented by the Director of the Open Society Foundation and expert in sphere of anti-corruption and budget policy Ivan Sikora during 2-days (April 17-18) training in Mykolaiv.

Best anti-corruption tools for local activists and experts, members of local councils and journalists of South Ukraine (Mykolaiv and oblast, Kherson and Odessa) will be presented by the Director of the Open Society Foundation and expert in sphere of anti-corruption and budget policy Ivan Sikora during 2-days (April 17-18) training in Mykolaiv on the request and in cooperation with the Foundation of Mykolaiv Development.  The request for such knowledge and skills were formed during last meeting at March with local groups of activists of the anti-corruption initiative "Return the Billions to Local Budgets" in Mykolaiv, Kherson and Odessa (the aim of the initiative is to improve the quality of public monitoring and advocacy of changes related to management of land, property and budget at the local level) as well as during implementation project of the Foundation of Mykolaiv Development (supported by International Renaissance Foundation) in sphere of providing integrity municipal services and on anti-corruption expertise at the local level.

The 2 days training aims to promote the reduction of corruption practices at local level by enhancing CSOs potential in anti-corruption and budget policy monitoring and evaluation capacity as well as combine efforts with local politicians in advocacy changes and provide municipal services.
