For the first time in Ukraine 15 local budgets will be evaluated in terms of transparency, participation and integrity based on the methodology developed by the Open Society Foundation.

From May 21 to 24 more than 30 civil society activists and journalists from 15 cities of Ukraine will take part in training and the meeting of mini-grants winners. Grants were provided by the Odesa organization of CVU within the "Civil Society and Media for Transparent Local Budgets" project, implemented jointly with OSF and supported by the European Commission and the Finnish Embassy in Ukraine.
OSF Director Ivan Sikora will present the "Index for Transparency and Integrity of Local Budgets." Presentation and training will be conducted in the framework of the "Civil Society and Media for Transparent Local Budgets" project, implemented by Odesa organization of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine (CVU). In April 2015 OSF joined the project as a partner, replacing Transparency International - Ukraine. The project is supported by the European Commission and the Finnish Embassy in Ukraine.
During April-May 2015 Ivan Sikora, the expert in budget and anti-corruption policy and OSF director for the first time in Ukraine developed the methodology behind the "Index of Transparency and Integrity of Local Budgets". Index aims to increase the transparency and integrity of the budget process at the local level. The methodology will evaluate the assess to the information about urban development and budget at the local level at all stages of the budget process.
